52 week – Low Key
Week 3 assignment, low key. A low key image is one that contains predominantly dark tones and colors. Prior to this assignment I had never taken a low key image with intent so this would prove to be a learning experience. I did some research online and then enlisted my sometimes compliant and readily available models.
My first attempt was with an inanimate object which would give me the best opportunity at getting the lighting and camera settings just right. My camera sat on a tripod and a Gorillatorch flashlight was placed on a table to the left of the vase. It was evening and all other lighting was turned off. I made sure that the flashlight was lighting the object but not the wall behind it.

I chose the bottom image to submit to the group.
We then decided to have some fun and move around the light source.
Without setting out to I’m finding that I’m converting a lot of my images to black and white these days. I think it has a lot to do with the season.

These are really good. It seems as though you’re learning quite a bit through this project.
They’re wonderful, Becky! Really love that first one!
