A quick trip to Burlington, Vermont
Burlington Breakwater North Lighthouse (seen here minus the snowstorm)
A visit with relatives was the draw for our recent trip to Burlington, VT. I love Burlington and surely did not appreciate the beauty of it when living there in the early to mid ’90’s. In the summer, after the ocean, it’s one of my favorite places to be.
This mid-winter trip was what is to be expected in these parts, plenty of snow! We left in a snow storm and it didn’t stop snowing until 2 days later when we were to return home.
I took the kids exploring our old neighborhood and then down to the waterfront. Burlington is very photogenic with the Green Mountains on one side of the city and Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains of New York on the other. Waterfront Park (check out the photo gallery of spring/summer shots) is where it is happening in the summer, many events take place here including the conclusion of the Vermont City Marathon. As mentioned before, I’ve participated in the marathon for the past two years and we are presently awaiting the results of the lottery to see if we have been chosen to run again this year (fingers crossed!). It was fun to see and show the kids the finish line covered in snow and in the midst of a snowstorm.
Last year I had the final leg of the relay and ran right past these poles and benches.
The snow, albeit pretty, is cramping my jogging style. I prefer to jog outside one million times better than going to the gym and jogging on the dreadmill.
