A long time coming

Wood Island as viewed from Negro Island

Have you ever watched CBS Sunday Morning? It used to be with Charles Kuralt and later Charles Osgood. My grandmother watched it religiously (her church) and then I carried on the tradition for several years until kids disrupted the routine. I haven’t watched it in a long time now but one of my favorite parts of the show was at the very end where they would spend several minutes, without commentary and with only the sounds of nature, showing video of a variety of nature scenes. That’s what I’m hearing now… gulls, terns, cormorants, and waves lapping on the shore. Ahhhhh….

  1. I love CBS Morning Show and watch it whenever I can (but kids have disrupted that for us, too). I know exactly what you’re talking about – that segment at the end showcasing somewhere peaceful and beautiful. Glad you’re there and enjoying the sounds of nature. I hope to be up there next summer!

  3. I came by from Karma’s and walked right into CBS Sunday Morning! It was almost as surprising as a heron. If I ever decide to keep a TV again it will be to watch Sunday Morning. We used to call that final segment “The Minutes” – might as well have called it the final blessing. Nice memory. Nice vacation photos, too . . .
