2011 Smith College Spring Bulb Show (Part 2)
By the time I made it to the Smith College Spring Bulb Show many of the flowers had seen better days. The show runs March 5-20 and we visited on the 18th. Most of the tulips were wide open and days or moments away from losing their petals. I found this to be a great opportunity to focus on what a bee finds most attractive about a flower.
And, finally, my submission for MCP Project 52, Darks and Lights.
Truly an amazing variety of tulips. We don’t grow them a lot around here because deer love to eat tulips!
These are all vibrant and beautiful!
beautiful beautiful pictures!
Wow….truly gorgeous. I think the open tulips are probably more beautiful to photograph…with the different colors and the pollen, etc. Beautifully done! I planted some Pink Impression tulips last fall and I’m very excited for them to bloom!
B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L These are all gorgeous, I can’t decide between 3 and 5 for my favorite.
PLEASE tell me there’s a part 3!
I do have more but there will be less of a theme.
Yay! I can’t wait 🙂

These are gorgeous photos! I LOVE the second one!
Wow…great macros and editing! Hopefully you didn’t have to fight for positioning to set up your camera!
Really neat views of the tulips!
That is one problem to waiting til the last weekend to see the show with many flowers being past their prime. Your close-ups are so cool – what do you have for a macro lens?
Thanks, Karen. I have a 100mm macro.
Wow, stunning! I’m a sucker for bright colors so all your shots were just right up my alley. Beautiful! I can’t even begin to pick a favourite.
